Canadian Pharmacist Group Appoints Pharmapod Assets Receiver

The Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPA) has appointed a receiver for certain assets of Pharmapod, an Irish software company that has developed a cloud-based platform to reduce medication errors for patients.

according to a deposit with the Companies Registration Office and Iris Oifigiúil, a receiver was appointed by the CPA on the assets of Pharmapod as part of a loan agreement concluded in March 2018. The file indicates that the assets controlled represented “all or substantially all of the assets of the company” .

The Canadians have appointed Tom O’Brien of Mazars as receiver and manager, according to the filing and Iris Oifigiúil.

According to Irish time, CPA invested C $ 3 million (€ 2 million) in Pharmapod in 2018. The investment came less than a year after Pharmapod, which was established in 2012 by CEO Leonora O’Brien, won a tender to implement an error reporting system. for drugs in over 4,300 pharmacies in Ontario.

Last year the Irish time also reported that Pharmapod is on the verge of closing a € 3.5million round.

A press release also said that Pharmapod will advocate for the HSE contract for the online system to help with the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccination. He said the company “will come to market soon” with its cloud-based solution for vaccine deployment globally and has partnered with the International Pharmaceutical Federation on the project.
